Hi I am trying multiprocessing pool to speed up my for loop.
from multiprocessing import Pool
class Sim():
def a11x(self, obj):
print("ax")
#do more
def next_collision(self):
with Pool(2) as p:
print("map")
p.map(self.a11x, self.combination)
self.combination being a list in a form [(a,b), (c,d), ...]
python multiprocessing

It's working for me: repl.it/repls/CloseSlipperyHashfunction

@Jab waat.. how is that possible? I am using Anaconda package with spyder IDE in Windows 10. Rebooting didn't help. Do you have any thoughts?

it's not that the program finishes without printing. It freezes and I have to restart the kernel.

@Jab the freezing part is solved. It's because I didn't have if name == "main" part. But the function is still not called and only prints "map". However the program runs fine with Python without IDE

@Seung: IDEs add in all sorts of introspection, debugging, dynamic compilation wrapping, implicit threading, and other nonsense that often breaksmultiprocessing
. It's just a fact of life. Lacking the__name__ == '__main__'
guard doesn't help, but nothing makesmultiprocessing
work well when third party tools are hijacking the interpreter.
