It Gets Worse: A Collection of Essays is a book by Shane Dawson released on July 19, 2016.[1][2] Dawson released a short film of the same name to go along with the book.[3] In Bustle, Alex Weiss describes the collection as narrating a range of events in Dawson's life "from his most bizarre moments of childhood to dressing in drag for the first time, from clashes with celebs to coming to terms with his bisexuality and how he comes out to people ."[4] The book made the New York Times best-seller list[5] and was the #3 best-selling book in the United States for the week of August 1, 2016.[6]


Dawson's first book, I Hate Myselfie: A Collection of Essays, was also a New York Times Bestseller. Aside from his books, he is also a comedic actor, podcaster, singer and songwriter.[7]
