I'm looking for a simple way for my users to import data in my MS Access database from an Excel file.
They have an Excel file with this format:
| Document# | DataA | DataB | DataC |
I have to import that data into my TableA:
| User_id | DataA | DataB | DataC |
They have not User_id but Document# (document number)
Obviously I have a table (Users) to get User_id from Document#:
| User_id | DocumentId | Name | Surname |
I just did it with a quite complex macro to import Excel into a temp table, than inserting data into my TableA.
I'm looking for something smarter (p.e. asking user to cut/paste data into a form or a smarter way to import the file)

Have a look at theRelatedSection on the right side of this page. E.g import-excel-data-in-access shows how to use an Excel Sheet in a insert query without importing first (it gets temporary linked). Combined with anApplication.FileDialogyou can chose which Excel File to import.
